On 27th of April, 2010, EU indo Centre (EUIC) and Center “Children Today” (QFS), co-organized the conference “Poverty and Children in Albania”. The main focus of the conference was the consequences of poverty on the well-being of children, and state policies, non-governmental and international initiatives on poverty alleviation. This conference comes on the light of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion – 2010. Among its aims, the European Year will seek to give a voice to those who daily experience poverty and social exclusion. Present in this conference were representatives from: National Social Service (Ministry of Work, Social Affair and Equal Chance, MWSAECh), Director of Albanian Vodafone Foundation; International NGOs; Albanian NGOs; media and others. Two expert of the Center “Children Today” (Leke Sokoli and Elma Tershana), on the course of year 2009, have realized a research study “Poverty and Children in Albania”, study that by the beginning of this year (2010) was published. Even that during the realization of this research study were present some obstacle, today, this research study help us to develop a national ‘picture’ regarding poverty level (perception by individuals) and children perception regarding their life and future.
