International TC “Human Rights Education through Innovative Peer Action”
In the framework of Youth in Action Program with the support
of Education and Culture DG in Brussel, Center Children Today implemented the
international training course “Human Rights Education through Innovative Peer
Action” during January 20th -26th, 2010. The project gathered
together 24 young people from
Serbia,
FYROM,
Italy,
Spain,
Turkey,
Egypt,
Romania and
Albania.
It aimed at training them in peer education for human
rights, fostering a culture of participation in education of young people. The project tackled on general human rights education, and
on specific themes, relevant for the participant countries, such as racism,
xenophobia, gender based violence, immigration.
All the partner organizations use peer education as a way to
achieve change with youth groups, to enhance a culture of human rights. The partner
organizations would like to improve the current programmes by developing new
training methodologies for peer educators, and by improving the quality of the
support systems that will ensure an efficient action and a positive and
complete learning experience. The training course was drawn upon previous
experiences at local level, and subscribes in a line of action that will
consider follow up courses using e-learning platforms, dissemination meetings,
seminars to exchange good practices and support for the network so created.
