Center Children Today successfully completed the project “Active participation for environmental development” realized during June – December 2009 in the framework of “Special Dutch Fund for Environmental Projects with Local Initiatives” under the financial support of Regional Environmental Center in Albania (REC Albania). Due to this initiative were launched a series of educational, informational, awareness and investment in the town of Kamza in full cooperation with local administrative structures of this city and in line with regional development policies in the area. Project also enabled the planting of 15 trees on both sides of the street RR. Skënderbej.

One of the project goals was active engagement of citizens to give solutions to their daily problems. Thus, during the project implementation, a group of citizens supported by project staff, drafted a public letter addressed to local institutions. I

n this paper noted that all work carried out so far by the Municipality of Kamez, two issues remain problematic are:

1. Greening of public spaces

2. Urban Waste Management

 

At the end of this letter, the residents said that: "We Kamza residents, women, men, children and young people believe in the development of a sustainable and healthy environment of our city by strengthening cooperation between local government and community.”

 

Center "Children Today", thanks the local structures of Kamez municipality for their professional and serious contribution given during the implementation of this project. Also, the Center is pleased to thank and two elementary schools in Bathore area, where have been implemented projects and initiatives for nearly two years. These contributions are set based on understanding and inclusion of educational staff of these schools.

 

Our commitment to be a stimulus on finding solutions to community problems will continue to be present also in the future.
