“I CHOOSE TO LIVE WITHOUT VIOLENCE”/16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence

Violence against women and girls is one of most widespread infringements of human rights all around the globe. The International Campaign: UNiTE (Unite to end Violence against women) specifically during the 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global social movement through communication and advocacy to move forward concrete actions for elimination of violence against girls and women and domestic violence. In Albania, 16 days of activism runs as traditionally every 25th of November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women with a series of activities and events calling for the elimination of violence against women and girls. On the occasion of International Day on the elimination of violence against girls and women, “Children Today” Center in collaboration with University of Arts through support of UNDP, UN Women with Swedish Government Funds official opening of “16 days of activism” campaign under the slogan: I CHOOSE TO LIVE WITHOUT VIOLENCE! Students of Arts University will present during the activity an installation titled: “COMMUNICATE, DON’T EXERT VIOLENCE”! Through this piece of art is aimed awareness rising of the large public on the phenomena of violence against women and domestic violence. Additionally, the event will serve and an opportunity to discuss on the previous and actual actions undertaken to address the issue of violence against women and domestic violence. UNiTE Campaign is an initiative of the United Nations and the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth for coordinated initiatives of civil society organizations with UN Women and UNDP support and with funds of Sweden Government.
